In geometry, a hypocycloid is a special plane curve generated by the trace of a fixed point on a small circle that rolls within a larger circle. As the radius of the larger circle is increased, the hypocycloid becomes more like the cycloid createdby rolling a circle on a line. (Wikipedia).

Epicycloids and Hypocycloids - A Link Between Curve Stitching and the Mandelbrot Set #SoME2
Epicycloids and Hypocycloids appear everywhere in math; especially the cardioid. These shapes act as a fascinating link between curve stitching, and the Mandelbrot set (as well as the Multibrot sets). Below are links to some programs and resources. I encourage anyone to explore and play

Pi is approximately 355/113 (pi day short)
This short animation shows the beginning of the creation of the hypocycloid where the ratio between the radii of the two circles is Pi. Because Pi is irrational, the hypocycloid will never close, so we end after 113 revolutions. As a byproduct, it appears that the curve almost closes up, a

Nested Powers of 2 Hypocycloids (synthwave enumeration)
This video shows the creation of hypocycloids with powers of 2 cusps (starting with 256 cusps and ending with 2), generated at rates that are powers of 2. Then the image rotates 5 times before fading out. If you like this video, please like, subscribe, and check out my others. Also share

Drawing Hypocycloids (synthwave enumeration)
This synthwave enumeration shows the creation of 32 different hypocycloids, which are curves that are obtained by following a point that lies on circle rolling inside another circle. If the ratio of the radii of the two circles is a rational number, then the described curve will close afte
