A polycube is a solid figure formed by joining one or more equal cubes face to face. Polycubes are the three-dimensional analogues of the planar polyominoes. The Soma cube, the Bedlam cube, the Diabolical cube, the Slothouber–Graatsma puzzle, and the Conway puzzle are examples of packing problems based on polycubes. (Wikipedia).
Bob Hearn – Rectangular Unfoldings of Polycubes – G4G14 Apr 2022
Are there any polycubes that can be cut along the edges and unfolded into exactly a rectangle? This was an open problem until last year. The answer leads to a mechanical puzzle of moderate difficulty.

Érika Roldán - Guarding Art Galleries with Rooks & Queens - G4G14 Apr 2022
How many chess rooks or queens does it take to guard all squares of a given polyomino, the union of square tiles from a square grid? This question is a version of the art gallery problem in which the guards can ‘‘see’’ whichever squares the rook or queen attacks. We show that n/2 rooks or

Erik Demaine - New Ways to Fold a Cube from Paper - CoM Oct 2021
What shapes of paper can fold into a unit cube? This seemingly simple question has many interesting answers and open problems, depending on what type of folding is allowed. In particular, we’ll see a new way to fold a 3 × 3 square into a unit cube using horizontal, vertical, and diagonal c
