Olry Terquem (16 June 1782 – 6 May 1862) was a French mathematician. He is known for his works in geometry and for founding two scientific journals, one of which was the first journal about the history of mathematics. He was also the pseudonymous author (as Tsarphati) of a sequence of letters advocating radical reform in Judaism. He was French Jewish. (Wikipedia).
Quantum Mechanics of the Electron
We don't have to know too much physics to do chemistry, but the electron, the particle that makes all the chemistry happen, is a quantum mechanical particle, so we have to understand it just a little bit. Don't worry, no math, just conceptual weirdness, followed by compelling monologue! W

Finding Eigenvalues and Eigenvectors
In studying linear algebra, we will inevitably stumble upon the concept of eigenvalues and eigenvectors. These sound very exotic, but they are very important not just in math, but also physics. Let's learn what they are, and how to find them! Script by Howard Whittle Watch the whole Math

Norbert Verdier : When He was one hundred Years old!
In this Talks we will don’t speak about Joseph-Louis Lagrange (1736-1813) but about Lagrange’s reception at the nineteenth Century. “Who read Lagrange at this Times?”, “Why and How?”, “What does it mean being a mathematician or doing mathematics at this Century” are some of the questions o

This one is famous! And super ancient. We aren't sure if old Pythag was the first to come up with it, but if not, he arrived at it independently of anyone prior, and his name is associated with it. It's quite nifty when you really think about it. Take a look! Watch the whole Mathematics p

Systems of linear equations seek a common solution for the unknowns across more than one equation. It can be very simple to calculate a solution using simple algebra. Alternatively you can use elementary row operations or even lines and planes in two- and three-dimensional space. At th
