Algebraic curves | Riemann surfaces | Algebraic geometry | Birational geometry
In algebraic geometry, the smooth completion (or smooth compactification) of a smooth affine algebraic curve X is a complete smooth algebraic curve which contains X as an open subset. Smooth completions exist and are unique over a perfect field. (Wikipedia).

This came as a surprise. Although it looks like an example with smooth time-stepping, it is not. It is with original, simple time-stepping. I'm not exactly sure what this means. Maybe my smooth time-stepping method is superfluous.

Akhil Mathew - Some recent advances in syntomic cohomology (3/3)
Bhatt-Morrow-Scholze have defined integral refinements $Z_p(i)$ of the syntomic cohomology of Fontaine-Messing and Kato. These objects arise as filtered Frobenius eigenspaces of absolute prismatic cohomology and should yield a theory of "p-adic étale motivic cohomology" -- for example, the

Peter TOPPING - Sharp local decay estimates for the Ricci flow on surfaces
There are many tools available when studying 2D Ricci flow, equivalently the logarithmic fast diffusion equation, but one has always been missing: how do you get uniform smoothing estimates in terms of local L^1 data, i.e. in terms of local bounds on the area. The problem is th

Correction: The affiliation of Lei Fu is Tsinghua University. The Grothendieck–Serre conjecture predicts that every generically trivial torsor under a reductive group scheme G over a regular local ring R is trivial. We settle it in the case when G is quasi-split and R is unramified. To ov
