Power-of-two numeral systems

Base32

Base32 is the base-32 numeral system. It uses a set of 32 digits, each of which can be represented by 5 bits (25). One way to represent Base32 numbers in a human-readable way is by using a standard 32-character set, such as the twenty-two upper-case letters A–V and the digits 0-9. However, many other variations are used in different contexts. The rest of this article discusses the use of Base32 for representing byte strings, not unsigned integer numbers, similar to the way Base64 works. This is an example of a Base32 representation using the previously described 32-character set (IPFS CIDv1 in Base32 upper-case encoding): BAFYBEICZSSCDSBS7FFQZ55ASQDF3SMV6KLCW3GOFSZVWLYARCI47BGF354 (Wikipedia).

1,010,010,101,000,011 - #MegaFavNumbers

This is my submission to the #megafavnumbers project. My number is 1010010101000011, which is prime in bases 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10. I've open-sourced my code: https://bitbucket.org/Bip901/multibase-primes Clarification: by "ignoring 1" I mean ignoring base 1, since this number cannot be fo

Hexadecimal explained | Higher than base-10 positional numeral systems

A digit is a single symbol that represents a number. In positional numeral systems, the base tells us how many distinct digits we have to express numbers using numerals. Base-2 has two digits. Base-3 has 3 digits, and this pattern holds all the way up to base-10 and beyond. What happens t

Convert Numbers in Different Bases to Base Ten

In the last example 7^4=2401, not 2410 as shown. This is not used in the conversion to base 10 and therefore does not affect the answer. This lesson explains how to convert numbers in different bases to base ten. Site: http://mathispower4u.com
