Alhazen's problem, also known as Alhazen's billiard problem, is a mathematical problem in geometrical optics first formulated by Ptolemy in 150 AD.It is named for the 11th-century Arab mathematician Alhazen (Ibn al-Haytham) who presented a geometric solution in his Book of Optics. The algebraic solution involves quartic equations and was found in 1965 by . (Wikipedia).
Lunes of Alhazen: A Surprisingly Simple Proof
The Lunes of Alhazen is a thousand year-old construct credited to Arab mathematician and physicist al-Hasan Ibn al-Haytham, also known as Alhazen. More info about Ibn al-Haytham, who really should be better known than he is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibn_al-Haytham https://www.youtube

Olivier Benoist: On the Lüroth problem for real varieties
Abstract: The Lüroth problem asks whether every unirational variety is rational. Over the complex numbers, it has a positive answer for curves and surfaces, but fails in higher dimensions. In this talk, I will consider the Lüroth problem for real algebraic varieties that are geometrically
