# Abstract family of acceptors

An abstract family of acceptors (AFA) is a grouping of generalized acceptors. Informally, an acceptor is a device with a finite state control, a finite number of input symbols, and an internal store with a read and write function. Each acceptor has a start state and a set of accepting states. The device reads a sequence of symbols, transitioning from state to state for each input symbol. If the device ends in an accepting state, the device is said to accept the sequence of symbols. A family of acceptors is a set of acceptors with the same type of internal store. The study of AFA is part of AFL (abstract families of languages) theory. (Wikipedia).

Equivalence Relations Definition and Examples

Please Subscribe here, thank you!!! https://goo.gl/JQ8Nys Equivalence Relations Definition and Examples. This video starts by defining a relation, reflexive relation, symmetric relation, transitive relation, and then an equivalence relation. Several examples are given.

Groups in abstract algebra examples

In this tutorial I discuss two more examples of groups. The first contains four elements and they are the four fourth roots of 1. The second contains only three elements and they are the three cube roots of 1. Under the binary operation of multiplication, these sets are in fact groups.

Homomorphisms in abstract algebra examples

Yesterday we took a look at the definition of a homomorphism. In today's lecture I want to show you a couple of example of homomorphisms. One example gives us a group, but I take the time to prove that it is a group just to remind ourselves of the properties of a group. In this video th

Group Homomorphisms - Abstract Algebra

A group homomorphism is a function between two groups that identifies similarities between them. This essential tool in abstract algebra lets you find two groups which are identical (but may not appear to be), only similar, or completely different from one another. Homomorphisms will be
