Local analysis

In mathematics, the term local analysis has at least two meanings, both derived from the idea of looking at a problem relative to each prime number p first, and then later trying to integrate the information gained at each prime into a 'global' picture. These are forms of the localization approach. (Wikipedia).

Act globally, compute...points and localization - Tara Holm

Tara Holm Cornell University; von Neumann Fellow, School of Mathematics October 20, 2014 Localization is a topological technique that allows us to make global equivariant computations in terms of local data at the fixed points. For example, we may compute a global integral by summing inte

Paul Nelson (Zurich): The orbit method, microlocal analysis and applications to L-functions

I will describe how the orbit method can be developed in a quantitative form, along the lines of microlocal analysis, and applied to local problems in representation theory and global problems concerning automorphic forms. The local applications include asymptotic expansions of relative ch
