Numerical analysis | Mathematical tables | Special functions
The Digital Library of Mathematical Functions (DLMF) is an online project at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to develop a database of mathematical reference data for special functions and their applications. It is intended as an update of Abramowitz's and Stegun's Handbook of Mathematical Functions (A&S). It was published online on 7 May 2010, though some chapters appeared earlier. In the same year it appeared at Cambridge University Press under the title NIST Handbook of Mathematical Functions. In contrast to A&S, whose initial print run was done by the U.S. Government Printing Office and was in the public domain, NIST asserts that it holds copyright to the DLMF under Title 17 USC 105 of the U.S. Code. Formal Definition of a Function using the Cartesian Product
Learning Objectives: In this video we give a formal definition of a function, one of the most foundation concepts in mathematics. We build this definition out of set theory. **************************************************** YOUR TURN! Learning math requires more than just watching vid

GENERATING FUNCTIONS - Discrete Mathematics
We introduce generating functions. In this video we introduce generating functions, which introduces a new way to look at counting algebraically. You thought the binomial expansion was crazy? Take a look at this! We also look at formal power series. #DiscreteMathematics #DiscreteMath #Gen

The problem with `functions' | Arithmetic and Geometry Math Foundations 42a
[First of two parts] Here we address a core logical problem with modern mathematics--the usual definition of a `function' does not contain precise enough bounds on the nature of the rules or procedures (or computer programs) allowed. Here we discuss the difficulty in the context of funct

How to Find the Inverse of a Rational Function
In this video we will go over a step by step process for finding the inverse of a rational function. The function is f(x) = (2x - 3)/(x + 1) and we find the inverse function f^(-1)(x). I hope this helps someone who is learning algebra and studying inverse functions. Useful Math Supplies h
