Compensator (control theory)

A compensator is a component in the control system and it is used to regulate another system. In most of the time, it is done by conditioning the input or the output to that system. There are three types of compensators: lag, lead and lag-lead compensators. Adjusting a control system in order to improve its performance might lead to unexpected behaviour (e.g. poor stability or even instability by increasing the gain value). In order to make the system behave as desired, it is necessary to redesign the system and add a compensator, a device which compensates for the deficient performance of the original system. Eigenvalues and Modes of Linear Systems

In this video we discuss how the eigenvalues of the A matrix lead to the modes of a linear state space system. We will also examine how to chose initial conditions to excite a specific mode. In other words, we use a carefully chosen initial condition to ensure that the state response of

System Identification: Koopman with Control

This lecture provides an overview of the use of modern Koopman spectral theory for nonlinear control. In particular, we develop control in a coordinate system defined by eigenfunctions of the Koopman operator. Data-driven discovery of {K}oopman eigenfunctions for control E. Kaiser, J. N

What Is Gain Scheduling? | Control Systems in Practice

Often, the best control system is the simplest. When the system you’re trying to control is highly nonlinear, this can lead to very complex controllers. This video continues our discussion on control systems in practice by talking about a simple form of nonlinear control: gain scheduling.
